FAQ
What is Blended Web Artists?
We're a community of 3D artists that help 3D artists make their
work come alive. We usually use Blender and the browser, but are
open to other softwares for sure!
What kind of organization is this?
We are a group of people working together by our own accord. We
are not an official & registered organization (although we hope
to be eventually). While we try our best to weed out bad actors
from the community there might be bad actors so please report
and contact us if you have concerns.
Are you affiliated with the Blender Foundation?
No. We're an independent community.
How do I join/contribute/help?
You can use the join/contact button to join the community
Discord and find more ways to connect! Whether you want to help
out, showcase your own work, or just lurk around, definitely
don't be afraid to say hi!
I'm a 3D artist that wants my work ported over to my own website. Can I get some help?
Absolutely! We'd love to help out! Feel free to reach out
through the Join/Contact page!
I noticed you're into AI development, how can I trust you as an artist? What if you steal my work?
This is a great question. At the end of the day, we say what we
do upfront and we hope our intentions are clear, a section for
more human connection and effort and another one for more
transactional use cases. If there are hidden agendas assumed we
rather you trust your gut and self rather than us. And we mean
that. We're human too and we get it.
Can't the closed-source and paid ones be scraped anyway?
Yes, but we trust that visitors of the site will pay when there
is payment. There will always be bad actors, but we don't think
it should hinder our mission to inspire other 3D artists by
displaying it live.
Why do you get permission from the original creators?
We like to get permission as some ports might include the use of
AI and not every creator is okay with that! There are also many
other reasons like if the creator doesn't want to be affiliated
with another organization whom they could potentially disagree
with on core values or simply because they want to keep their
work self-contained even if they freely give it away on their
own channels.
Why do some of them not have permission from the original creators?
Some of them have licenses that allow us to use the art as long
as they are credited. Also, creators who provide open/free
tutorials and Blender files typically enjoy seeing their work
ported in another medium and excited to see it used in action.
We believe we provide that to some degree; however an attempt to
reach out for permission will be made and if any artist requests
their work to be removed it will be removed instantly with no
questions asked. However, no gated/paid work done by an artist
will EVER be ported over without permission first.
Are you afraid of AI using artists' work as training data as you use AI services?
We believe that others will likely try and feed 3D art into AI
to reproduce things including many of the works shown on our
website. Because this will likely happen whether our community
exists or not, we believe we are doing it in a more ethical way
with intent to highlight the original creator rather than
posture with work that isn't ours.
Is everything fully optimized?
No. Not every work shown is fully optimized. Some are for users
with specific devices. While we try our best to optimize for all
devices, not all art works will be fully accessible.
